Ramsey, Logan, Captain, U.S. Navy, Commanding. USS Lake Champlain. Passenger Regulations. Published probably on board the USS Lake Champlain: U.S. Navy, 1945. First edition. 24mo (small book). No pagination. [16 pages]. On front cover are the date of publication, 20 October 1945, and a faint silhouette of the ship. According to Wikipedia, this second Lake Champlain (CV-39) was a long-hull Essex Class aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. After shakedown and visits, on her maiden voyage in 1945 she was assigned 'Magic Carpet' duty to repatriate US military personnel. She departed Norfolk, Virginia for England on October 14 and arrived in Southampton the 19th, where she embarked veterans and returned to New York. These Passenger Regulations address 'all persons on board not attached to the ship's company,' according to a printed note inside the front cover. This first edition was apparently issued on its first repatriation trip. Pictorial stiff wrappers (soft cover). Front cover partially soiled, covering some of the text and the illustration. Rear cover intact, but partially stained and discolored. The mimeographed text is clean and legible. #26499. $200
